Eating properly cannot be overemphasized.  Sometimes it’s hard to eat healthy that’s why it’s very important to start very early.  Because what’s learnt early as a child becomes an habit.  And when it becomes an habit to eat healthy.  Imagine the gain.  Thanks Alot for sharing your thought . I will share with friends and family.

Thank you  for the article. You really took me back to days when my kids were babies. The biggest conflict was between me and my mom who wanted me to give my babies porridge on the second month. I had to stand my ground and my babies started their solid around 5 – 6 months. It is really crucial to give them a good start.

Yes, ultimately the decision to start must be individualized. Each child grows and develop at different rate. So while one may  be developmentally advanced enough to start solids at 4 months, another may not be ready until 5 months. But generally 4 months is most  suitable to  start because by  this  age, the digestive tract is mature enough to  digest complex  protein, fats and carbohydrates. Thank you BOGADI for  sharing  your  thoughts and experienced.

Thank you very much for this highlights, I have always heard parents argue on which is healthier between commercial feed and homemade food for babies. but the way you clarified the issue made me ascertain that commercial food is healthy but homemade food is cheaper and gives us a choice on the ingredients

    Hi Grace

Thanks so much for sharing a great article that I’m sure will help many new parents to know how to start giving young children solid foods, I’m a mother of 3 and grandmother of 2 and I was a babysitter of triples from when they were babies until they were 9 years old, so I had lots of fun when they were having their meals. I agree with you, teaching young children good and healthy habits will help them to grow healthy and learn about food and what to have and what better not to have. Today we all can find not healthy food at stores and markets, but I believe in good cooking habits also, I might belong to the old school and I love to cook at home most of our meals, I know it’s hard to keep away from treats and sweets but in the long term it will pay off.

      Hello Alejandra,

thank you  so  much  for  sharing your  thoughts and experienced. I am glad  you had  a  wonderful  experienced  with the  children. Yes I  agree  with  you, that today  in our market there’s  a  lots  of  unhealthy  foods? So  I  think  that’s  our responsibility to  make good healthy choices in buying our foods. I preferred  also  cooking  our meals always, but  not bad sometimes  to dine outside to treat ourselves and  family. The most  important  we know  to apply the rule  of  moderation especially  for  the  sweet  foods. Thank’s again .

Great topic! I have a new grand daughter and will pass this on to my daughter. You have answered a lot of questions in my mind within the article but I do have one, When making/blending meats and veggies is there a percentage of how much meat to put in with a percentage of veggies? Should it be 50/50 as a rule for all? looking forward to your reply. Ken

      Hi  Ken,

Thank  you  for  sharing  my article  to your  daughter. I’m glad to know  it’s  answers  some  of  your  questions. About  the percentage in making  puree for meat  and vegetables, you  can use your  own  references how much  you  wanted to  make,  but should  less in meat always, smooth in texture and thin in consistency. The most  important  thing  to remember  that solid foods must  be  introduced gradually, One kind at a time for the reason , we can easily  to identify the source  of any  allergic  reactions if there  is any? But  if  your granddaughter is able tolerate well and ready  for vegetables and  meat  mixture, then you  can go  for  it. The decision must be with  which parents are  comfortable. Thank  you and  stay  safe.

Children copy so much from us. So I have been careful about my own habits. But when it comes to eating, they can only eat what we serve them, so the full responsibility is on our shoulders. I really liked what you explained concerning the difference between commercial and homemade food. Thank you!
